Romancero: collection romances
The text is one large collection of fragments from the Spanish character knowledge over the period of approx. 1040 up to and including the 17th century.
The expression of the emotional life of people by the centuries gone comes clearly forward in the variable language use in the three in each other overflowing
parts of this lyric work.
It starts with desiring to
inaccessible.
So much love, so much love
Ca. 1042 Jache love poem
Waves on sea of Vigo.
1250-1350 Cantig de amigo
Tant amare, tant amare
Ondas do mar de Vigo
Yo me vi tan ajeno
Del grave mal que siento
Que de puro contento
O con el pensamiento discurría
Por donde no hallaba
Sino memorias llenas d'alegría.
And proceeds gradually
in oppressing the passions,
I saw myself show remote of the heavy sorrow
Where I sleep in sweet rested
Or let my ideas take there own course,
Where I only found cheerful memories.
Garcilaso de la Vega 1501-1536
Yo la veo como Dulcinea,
y con ese basta.
to finish with:
For me she is Dulcinea, no
question about it.
Miguel de Cervantes
Don Quijote 1547-1616
Romancero are one large wave movement in which always another manner of feeling expression takes places.
